What is Astigmatism?
Astigmatism is a type of refractive error. It is a common eye problem which can cause vision to be distorted and blurry as a result of the abnormal shape of your cornea or lens.
The only way to diagnose astigmatism is through a dilated eye examination.
The root cause of astigmatism is unknown and there’s no way to prevent it. Some people are born with astigmatism, but many people develop it as children/young adults or after an eye injury/surgery.

Blurry vision
Needing to squint to see clearly
Headaches
Eye strain
Trouble seeing at night
What's the treatment for Astigmatism?
The most common treatments are eyeglasses or contact lenses.
Doctors can also use surgery to treat astigmatism
If you have mild astigmatism, you may not experience symptoms and you may not need treatment. Your doctor will help guide you through treatment options.
